It is since January 18, 2018 that Mr. Lucien Gédéon LOKUMU, Director at the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature has left his place to his colleague, Mr. De-Dieu Bya’ombe, also Director at the ICCN. Director Lucien Gédéon is recalled by the hierarchy of the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature, to go and work at Salonga National Park in Ecuador, and Director De-Dieu comes from Lomami Park in Maniema. The communication service of the Kahuzi Biega National Park, wishes good luck to the Director Lucien Gédéon who is going and welcomes the Director De-Dieu who has just arrived.

Already on his arrival the Director De-Dieu announced his colors. Among its priorities, tourism and the liberation of the ecological corridor of Ninja.

For the Director De -Dieu Bya’ombe, the promotion of tourism in Kahuzi Biega will be his hobbyhorse. If today the neighboring Virunga National Park is now one of the great destinations for tourism in Central Africa, the Kahuzi Biega which is less than 100 kilometers by road, 15 minutes by plane and 2 hours by boat in the peaceful Lake Kivu, can also attract so many tourists, as long as the seriousness is put into the work. Speaking about the ecological corridor of the Kahuzi Biega National Park which connects the high altitude to the low, the new head of the park, pointed out that it is a shame for the city of Bukavu, the province of South Kivu and the DR Congo in general to keep this internationally renowned park on the UNESCO list of endangered properties.

He promised that he will work with his new team in partnership with donors to get the Kahuzi Biega out of this list of UNESCO assets in danger. Obviously the director did not forget to point out that all these wishes of will to do well, will remain without effect if the children of the province of South Kivu as well as the authorities lend him a hand for the good of the province of South Kivu , formerly known as the Tourist Capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
